Bubbles 🫧 Blog

You can now hide posts by keyword 🙈

Recently Brennan wrote about four months of using Bubbles, thanks Brennan! He wrote:

I'd love the ability to filter out genAI posts rather than all tech posts

Which I think is a good idea. Switching Tech off in the Filter menu costs you the Linux posts, the e-ink readers and the Photoshop rants along with the AI takes, and lots of the AI writing on Bubbles is listed under Culture, Life or Politics anyway.

So here it is. Open the filter menu, click "Hide words", type the words you would rather not read. Any post with one of them in its title or text disappears from all lists.

For simplicity the filter only recognizes whole words. "ai" filters posts with "AI-generated" because of the hyphen, but not "openai". You can add a star for word beginnings: "llm*" also removes posts with "llms" in it.

Like all filter settings the word list is locally stored in your browser, not in the Bubbles database. So if you're using multiple devices you need to set up your word lists individually.

But be careful: the "ai" keyword alone also removes ai-critical posts as well as posts containing "Not written by AI". And all posts about Ai Weiwei.

Please reach out and let me know if you find any bugs, the feature is quite fresh.
